Short Story, Long contributor Brittney Uecker interviews Somers about her story, "Ten Year Affair"
Good interview. The short story cracked me up! One of those great, creative stories that makes me think "Oh yeah, I can do whatever I want in fiction." Definitely want to pick up the novel.
Terrific interview with such a talented writer. I enjoyed Erin Somers’ debut novel, Stay Up With Hugo Best, and some of her short stories and essays. For those who like audio versions of short stories, you can listened to “The Ten Year Affair” and another gem, “Variations on the Same,” via Symphony Space (at https://www.symphonyspace.org/selected-shorts/episodes/too-hot-for-radio-erin-somers-ten-year-affair and https://www.symphonyspace.org/selected-shorts/episodes/too-hot-for-radio-erin-somers-variations-on-the-same).
